This is Vahl's Restaurant which was owned and maintained by Amelia Vahl from 1941 through her passing on Dec. 27, 2004. Although the photos look very different, according to various sources, the place changed very little.

Ms. Vahl met her husband to be here in this building in 1941. In those days it was called the Newport Inn, an 8-stool tavern. Inside, things look old fashioned as you might expect. The cash register is one of those ancient gigantic ones. I didn't see it, but the Peacock Room is a place of atmosphere. One website says that it has more atmosphere than allthe Fairmont Hotels inthe world rolled into one. It goes on to say that at night, in the rain, the neon lights are a thing of beauty.
